Her training in classical voice from the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music makes her a very diverse vocalist who's voice lends itself well to a variety of genres.
Some highlighted performances include being her graduation’s national anthem singer at the Barclay's Center, the featured soloist for 'Heavensward' during the ‘Final Fantasy XVII Distant World's’ North American Premiere at Carnegie Hall, and the national anthem singer for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 campaign announcement which was broadcast on CNN, Washington Post, NY Times & more. Others she performed for include civil rights activist Claudette Colvin and the honorable Dr. Cornel West under the direction of Grammy Award winning Arturo O'Farrill.
Most recently, she was a recipient of the DAP Grant by Motorhouse, has won Excellence in the Art of Singing in the state of Maryland, and was a 2023 State Finalist in Miss Maryland Miss USA Pageant. Akilah toured with Plaza Theatrical Productions presentation of Sister Act playing the lead role of Deloris and was nominated for the 2019 Long Island Volunteer Theater Awards as Best Lead Actress.
In addition to stage, she is an award winning screen actress, most recently being lauded internationally for her lead role in the short film 'Senses' that is sweeping at festivals including the BAFTA eligible London Short FIlm Festival.
She has also been a radio host on the Stellar Award nominated Crowned Radio Station. Additionally, she's appeared on BRIC Media Arts Television shows ‘The Real Word’ & ‘Nocturnal Vibes Radio’, been a top artist on Stationhead Radio.
